How long does
training last?
The classroom training program lasts six weeks: One week for APCO Public Safety Telecommunicator I certification, one week for APCO Emergency Medical Dispatcher certification, and four weeks consisting of Computer Aided Dispatch, TDD, geography, phone, and simulation training.

Please download and read the Criticall™ testing instructions before you arrive. This will allow you to begin testing right away, and shorten the amount of time required.
What certifications
do I need?
No certifications are necessary prior to training. All certifications are provided as part of the training process.
Are you hiring
part-time telecommunicators?
We are always looking for well-qualified, energetic part-time telecommunicators. You are welcomed to submit your application or contact our office to discuss part-time opportunities further.
What shift will I
work?
All shifts are currently 12-hours in duration, and are one of the following: 7am – 7pm, 7pm-7am, 10am-10pm. Telecommunicators may work rotating monthly or bi-monthly schedules, e.g. 2 months of 7am-7pm, 2 months of 7pm-7am, etc. A typical two-week cycle would be the following:
Monday, Tuesday – Work
Wednesday, Thursday – Off
Friday, Saturday, Sunday – Work
Week 2
Monday, Tuesday – Off
Wednesday, Thursday – Work
Friday, Saturday, Sunday – Off
